Ongoing Club Projects 2010-2011
Arbor Day: We sponsor an educational program at the five Danvers elementary schools in partnership with the Town of Danvers. Seedlings are distributed and we help with information on planting. At each Arbor Day we plant a tree on public property. It involves the school children and town workers for a true collaboration of efforts in Civic responsibility.
ChristmasTree: The Club decorates a tree in Danvers Square in December with handmade wooden ornaments, velvet bows, and lights which stands throughout the Christmas season for everyone to enjoy. Also, we decorate each lamp post in the Square with a wreath and handmade velvet bows. A member of the Club is present at the tree lighting ceremony in Danvers Square.
Civic Development: The Club organizes the Hanging Baskets in Danvers Square, plants and maintains the Centre Street Island and the Route 62 Town Line welcome sign. The club also plants and maintains the Memory Garden at the Kaplan Family Hospice House on Liberty Street. Outside each patient room there are urns that we plant seasonally for their enjoyment. Beneficiaries are all who drive by and enjoy beauty and color. All members are expected to participate.

Historic Preservation: Projects are continuing to help beautify historic Glen Magna Farms and maintaining the Herb Garden at the Peabody Institute Library for the enjoyment and education of Danvers residents. In the spring of 2010 this group established a new garden at the Town Hall built in 1855 using appropriate historic plantings
Holiday Greens Sale: Since 1995 the club raises funds for its community service projects with a Greens Sale in December where the public can purchase their holiday decorations. All members are expected to participate.
Junior Gardeners: The Danvers Garden Club sponsors a Junior Garden Club. This Club is open to the daughters/sons and grandchildren of members. The group meets regularly and develops an appreciation and awareness of the beauty of plants, trees, and flowers, and a concern for the environment. The children learn a great appreciation for materials and placement and are very proud of their accomplishments.
Magazine Sharing Program: Each month members bring in gardening and environmental oriented magazines and add them to our sharing table for any member to take home and enjoy. Our members and the environment benefit from this program.
Plant Sale: The Club sponsors a spring plant swap/sale among members and the general public. The date, time and place will be announced. This benefits garden club members and the community. All members are expected to participate.
