VI. The Pauline D. Bowden Memorial Award ~ For Gardening Excellence
In memory of our beloved Past President, Pauline D. Bowden, The Danvers Garden Club has established an award to be given annually at the September meeting. Pauline touched many lives through her lectures, teaching and mentoring. Her hands wore the scars of her passion for gardening and flower arranging and reflected the kind of person she was, full of life, deviltry and passion, yet soft and full of love.
The award, an English Teapot, reflects Pauline’s heritage and enjoyment of a “spot of tea” in her lovely English garden. The Teapot is a traveling award to be retained by the winner for one year. A certificate will be presented with the award. Two years must elapse before a member who has won this award may be eligible again.
To be eligible for the award, a member must plant and maintain her/his own garden. No gardening or lawn services may be used. All eligible members must submit their request to be considered to the Past Presidents committee by April 30th. Gardens will be judged the second or third week of June. The following scale of points will assist outside judges:
Scale of Points:
- Cultural Perfection: 35 points
- Variety & Rarity: 25 points
- Color Effect & Harmony: 20 points
- Grooming: 20 points
- Total: 100 points
Award Recipient:

VII. Ellie Grinnell Memorial Award
~Outstanding Contribution to the Danvers Garden Club ~

The general membership will have an opportunity to nominate a fellow member along with the Past Presidents Committee. Nominations must be submitted to the current President by March 31 of each year. The current President and the past Presidents Committee will make the decision.
